Sand যখন singular থাকে তখন এর অর্থ হল বালি। কিন্তু যখন sands লেখা হয় তখন এর অর্থ হয় বালি আচ্ছাদিত এলাকা; এরকম এলাকা সাধারণত মরুভূমি বা সাগরতীরে দেখা যায়।
